Happy Gifts: Katie's Wish List

Happy Gifts: Katie's Wish List

This year, we've curated a fun-ready Holiday Collection, as well as a Gifts from $10 selection that should satisfy a lot of your gift-giving needs. But we know there's a lot more out there, and who better to shop around with than your friendly Mata team. We're pulling together some of our favorite giftable items from companies similar to ours - their products are ethical, local, handmade, or sustainable/good for the earth.

------------------------------

In the dreary winter season, it's easy to find oneself gravitating towards gifts that can brighten up a room, cheer up a gloomy day, or put a smile on your face. Katie's wish list has items that manage to do a bit of all three. For holiday gifts with a touch of fun and a punch of color, keep reading.

Tote from Mercado Global

Love the pom pom tassels and neutral color scheme of this tote! Traditionally woven in Guatemala, the story behind Mercado Global's bags is fascinating to learn about.

Socks from Do Better

To me, there is such joy to be derived from tiny pleasures, and as someone who works from home, a bright and perky sock would do wonders.

(Thanks to Ethically Kate's crazy thorough Sustainable Gift Guide for pointing me to these!)

Modern Improv Quilting Book from New Song Quilting Co.

I already own a few of her quilted stockings, and thoroughly enjoy how she plays with color and pattern. Plus, supporting traditional crafts and individual artists is what keeps the world interesting! This book looks like a great resource for embracing a creative process like quilting.

Mila Midi Skirt from Mata Traders

This skirt has such a cool story behind it - ikat is a fascinating process that involves tying yarn, dyeing it, removing the ties to reveal undyed yarn, and then weaving the fabric, making a slightly blurry and imperfect pattern. The Mila Midi Skirt works over tights with a sweater, or in the warmer months, and is a rich neutral olive color. Love it.

Blok Parti Block Printing Kit from JOYN

I was so excited for this to be released - the very process we love here at Mata, block printing, is now do-at-home-able. The three kits each have a different set of wooden blocks and craft project, and this kit is probably great fun.

Blueberry Ornament from Craftspring

Craftspring ornaments are hands down the best quality felt ornaments I've ever owned. The craftsmanship is unmatched, and the ornaments range from cute to downright quirky. I've had my eye on this blueberry ornament for a while now!

Hope these gift ideas inspired you to be playful with your gift giving this season!
