After numerous seasons neon is still going strong!
If Marc Jacobs is using neon, like he did in Louis Vuitton’s spring/summer 2013 show, you can bet it will be a trend. His designs are bold yet minimal – a good rule of thumb for neon.
Proenza Schouler also used neon to brighten their spring/summer 2013 line.
Neon looks good on all skin tones; it is just a matter of choosing the right colors and balancing them so you can carry off this look with confidence. The thing with neon is that you don’t need much to jazz up your look. If you are bold enough, why not try a bottom or top? If you’re feeling a little gun shy on the fluorescent, bring it in in small doses like accessories. Many pieces in Mata’s spring/summer line go so well with neon pops, I’d thought I’d show you a few:
A subtle way to incorporate the trend is with a belt. Here is the Twist and Twirl dress paired with a neon chevron print belt.
Similarly, I used a couple neon accessories to punch up this adorable Shanghai Shift dress. A neon orange bag and a thin neon headband do the trick.
Need to get dressed up? Choose the Patterns and Pockets skirt and a top with neon details. Neon will always look good with silver metallic accessories, thereby dressing up your look.
It takes guts to pull off skinny jeans in neon, but I think we all have it in us. Bring them down a notch with a simple neutral top, like the Pleated Petal blouse, which I love all sported-up with a pair of Chucks. This blouse is a go-to. It has a fantastic silhouette with a twist (the twist being the cutest umbrella print you’ll ever see).
This trend is now easily accessible. No matter how you decide to pull neon into your wardrobe, I know you will have this trend locked!
