SOLID DRESSING

Good news! I reached my first pledged goal of $400, so I raised it to $800! Let’s keep the donations rolling in… I’m at $510. Thank you to everyone who has contributed! That $510 raised paid for aftercare packages for 17 survivors of sex trafficking. Every little bit helps end slavery for someone. As a whole, Dressemeber is freeing a lot of people from slavery, having raised over $270K as of yesterday! To see where the money goes once it’s given to International Justice Mission, click here and scroll down to “Your Impact.”

My last Dressember post left off at Day 12…

As you can see, I’m taking my commitment to Dressember seriously, and I hope that will inspire you to donate!

Day 12: I wore my new Raven + Lily dress to a holiday soiree with Greenheart‘s Andrea Dennis and Arise‘s Shelly Ruzicka (in her Mata dress with the cutest little giraffe print). Andrea and Shelly are both on the board of Chicago Fair Trade with me.
Day 13: I scored that grey crinkly dress at Greenheart’s clothing swap, and my friend Cecilia is in the Twist and Twirl dress that her Secret Santa got her.
Day 14: I’m back at the Chicago Fair Trade Holiday Pop-Up Shop in the Fan Fair dress.
Day 15: Katherine Bissell Cordova and her kids (one of whom took that photo, and that’s why it’s blurry) joined me for door-to-door Christmas caroling to raise money for Hands to Help Ministries, an organization prevents homelessness and gets people off the street. We raised $1,387.33 that night!

Grandma’s Dresses, Days 16-18

I lost my grandma at the end of last year, but in a way she’s more in my life than ever. That’s because her furnishings and home decor were passed down to me, her only granddaughter. I also got her wardrobe, and luckily we were about the same size. That tan cardigan was hers (days 12, 14, and 18) and the super-funky dresses from days 16-18 were, too!

That catches us up to yesterday, Day 19, the day of Mata’s staff holiday party. Boyeon and Alex were both looking festive in the Young Love dress.

They’re sold out on our site, but you can shop the Young Love dresses here or here. The maxi dress I’m wearing you can find here.

Dressember has really pushed me to utilize my closet in ways I probably never would have, like wearing a cotton maxi dress in the heart of a Chicago winter. Turns out my go-to summer dress is now my go-to winter dress!

Thanks again to everyone who has contributed to my campaign! If you haven’t yet, you can donate here. Even a small donation makes a difference and can help save someone from slavery.
