Today, millions of people worldwide are affected by human trafficking–what some call “modern-day slavery.” In most parts of the world, human trafficking–tied to broader issues of poverty, corruption, and political transition–disproportionately affects women and children. The global economic crisis has increased the suffering of those affected.
Many worthy organizations are fighting trafficking–and you can help support two of them! 100% of funds raised on Saturday will go directly to bolster the efforts of….
- The Salvation Army’s Promise Program (Anne’s House) in Chicago, IL: The Promise Program (Partnership to Rescue our Minors from Sexual Exploitation) is opening a residential home for women and girls who are victims of domestic, commercial sexual exploitation.
- Goutte d’Eau in Poipet in Cambodia: An orphanage and child center which helps rescue and rehabilitate victims of child trafficking.
